Steer Privacy Policy

Steer is run by Hailang Huang (hl.run), an individual developer. This page explains what we store and what we don't. Questions? Write to steer@alsoai.com.
1. The short version
- Your tasks stay on your devices. Tasks, conversations, files, commands, changes, and the agent's answers are handled and stored on your Mac. We never receive or see them.
- iPhone connections are end-to-end encrypted. Relay forwards ciphertext only your devices can decrypt.
- No account needed to use Steer on your Mac.
- No selling data, no ads, no third-party analytics or tracking.
2. What we store
Only if you create an account or connect an iPhone through Relay, our servers keep:

We don't store task content, project names, messages, commands, files, the agent's answers, which models or API keys you use, or the plain text of push notifications.
3. Other network activity
- Update checks and the official marketplace: no account information is sent, and our servers keep no access logs.
- Crash reports and usage statistics: off by default. They're sent only if you turn them on, de-identified and without task content.
- Third parties you connect: model providers, ChatGPT, Google / GitHub sign-in, extensions, and MCP servers. Your Mac sends data to them directly, under their privacy policies.
4. How we use it
Only to provide accounts and sign-in, relay messages and push notifications between your devices, prevent abuse, and send verification and security emails. No marketing email.
We share only what's needed with the providers that help run the service (hosting, email delivery, Apple push), and we never sell it. Your information may be stored and processed outside your country or region.
5. Your choices
In the account center on the website you can view your account and devices, remove devices, and delete your account. Deleting it erases your account and device information right away; logs are deleted when they expire. For anything else, such as getting, correcting, or exporting your data, write to us.
The website uses only the cookies needed for sign-in and your preferences, with no ad or tracking cookies. Steer isn't meant for children under 13.
6. Changes and contact
We'll post updates here and give advance notice of important changes by email or in the app.
